Want to prevent this behavior while collecting responses with Google Forms? It’s easy. Follow this simple guide.
How to Limit the Number of Responses in Google Forms
You can limit Google Forms submissions to one response per person and prevent someone from responding multiple times using the following quick steps:
Start by creating a new Google Form or opening an existing one if you’ve done so already. Go to Settings at the top of the form. Click the dropdown to the right of Responses. Finally, toggle the switch to the right of Limit to 1 response.
If you’re sharing your Google Forms from a mobile phone, launch the Google Forms website in your mobile browser and follow similar steps. Once done, feel free to share your form. Your respondents will now have to sign in to their Google account to submit a response. Hence, Google can track email addresses to determine if someone has responded already.
This setting is even handy if you’ve linked Google Forms with a spreadsheet, since it cleans your data and helps you prevent people from writing duplicate responses to your dataset.
However, if you’re using Google Forms to create quizzes instead, you don’t need to limit the response count explicitly, as the quiz form does so by default.
Collect Clean Data With Your Survey Forms
Your survey can be biased if you allow your respondents to respond many times. Limiting their submission to one account per response lets you get unique form responses. Thus, you’ll get clean, unbiased survey data from the onset. However, besides Google Forms, you can also use a similar setting to limit responses to one person per submission in Microsoft Forms.
