Anyone playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare should be no stranger to big downloads and updates. The game has been heavily criticized for having massive installs, however, Activision has made comments regarding future updates claiming downloads will be smaller in size by compressing assets. While that may have been true, Season 5 brings a lot of new content to the game and has another sizeable download for players. The Season 5 update comes in at a modest 36.1 GBs which is on par for most Modern Warfare patches.

Players looking to get a headstart on the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 patch can do so before the season kicks off on August 5. Now, it’s important to note that only players on PlayStation 4 can pre-load the update. PC and Xbox One players will have to wait until the new season launches to download the new content. Updates for Modern Warfare were sent out to active players on PlayStation Monday night, but if PS4 players haven’t gotten the update yet, it’s rather easy to trigger. Anyone without the update needs to simply hover over the Modern Warfare or Warzone icon and press the “Options” button on the PS4 controller. Then, players should select “check for updates,” which will notify them that an update is available.

It should be noted that once the download is completed, players will still need to wait until the official launch time of Season 5 before they can begin playing it. The console will still need to install the content but that should only take a few minutes as the content is already downloaded. This install can’t be completed until August 5 at 2 AM EDT, according to a message in the Notifications menu next to the download.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare Season 5 is shaping up to be a big one. The launch trailer has plenty of fans excited, notably the Warzone crowd as the battle royale’s map is undergoing some changes. The biggest of which is the Stadium is opening up, allowing players to roam and fight inside the area for the first time. Another addition to Warzone are trains that travel across the map which can be used to cover a lot of ground and pick up weapons as trains are filled with loot.

Warzone isn’t the only component getting updates in Season 5, the multiplayer for Modern Warfare is also adding exciting new content for its player base. Two new 6v6 maps are being added to the game as well as a new Ground War map that takes place at the Verdansk International Airport. Fans of the Gunfight mode are also getting a new map called Livestock which takes place on a farm.
