Lux is a powerful Mage that can deal large amounts of AOE (Area of Effect) damage from anywhere to any enemies on the Rift. She also has the utility, to protect other allies and herself, while also having access to CC (Crowd Control) to catch unsuspecting enemies or to stall them so she or her allies can escape from harm’s way. Let’s jump into what makes League of Legends: Wild Rift’s Lux so special!

Lux’s Passive Ability

Whenever Lux hits an enemy with one of her abilities, they take bonus Magic Damage when she auto attacks them. Her Ultimate Ability can also trigger the effect to activate. This Passive Ability helps increase her Burst Damage significantly and rewards those who can get close enough to their targets to auto-attack them, especially since Lux lacks mobility, which makes her more vulnerable to being killed when getting that close to her target.

Lux’s Q Ability

Lux throws out a ring of light in a linear path that can Snare up to two targets that were hit by it while dealing Magic Damage. The snare effect makes the target unable to move or use dash abilities, which helps Lux to land all her following abilities with ease, or it can even help set her allies up to take down the snared enemies.

Snares also shut down a lot of Meta Champions since most of them rely on high mobility to thrive and successfully take down their enemies. Other times this skill can be used to help allies or Lux players escape from their enemies since they won’t be able to stay in pursuit.

Lux’s W Ability

Lux tosses her wand in a linear path that shields all allies it passes through, then it returns to her in the same path, like a boomerang, granting her the shield as well. This skill may seem a bit lackluster early on because players will be one on one in the Mid-lane, or even if used in the Duo lane as a Support, the shield is very small early on. However, this skill can help turn the tides of a team fight and if used correctly, the shield can save players’ entire team from death, including themselves.

Lux’s E Ability

Lux throws a ball of light in a linear path that Slows enemies that are near it. When the skill is reused, it detonates and deals AOE Magic Damage. This skill is great for clearing minion waves to fast push lanes, or even to defend an incoming tower siege.

It’s also very useful to poke enemies from a range most Champions can’t retaliate from. To top it off, this skill has a very short cooldown making her able to consistently cast abilities with small windows of downtime in the Mid to Late Game.

Lux’s Ultimate Ability

Lux shoots out a large beam of light in a linear path that has infinite range. It deals massive amounts of Magic Damage and triggers her Passive Ability if an enemy has already been recently hit by her Q or E skills.

This skill can be used to burst snared enemies down swiftly, pick off low-health enemies from across the map, steal neutral objectives, stop recall animations, clear minion waves instantly to stop enemy tower sieges, and so much more. The better players become at Lux, the more utility they’ll be able to squeeze out of her skills, especially her Ultimate Ability.

Lux’s Special Combos & Tricks

Lux’s basic combo is Q - E - R - AA. However, to maximize her burst potential, players can do Q - E - R - E - AA. Doing it this way doesn’t waste any of her Passive stacks, which adds in extra damage most players would miss in combat using Lux.

Lux can gain vision of hidden areas with her E and Ultimate Ability, which can be very handy when scouting for enemy ambushes / ganks, or checking the status of an unwarded neutral objective.

Lux can animation cancel her Q with Flash, by doing Q - Flash, making it impossible to dodge or react to when used perfectly.

Lux can Flash while casting her Ultimate Ability to confuse enemies of the trajectory since it will cast from her original location before Flashing.

Lux’s Best Build

Luden’s Echo Lucidity Boots Stasis Enchant Rabadon’s Deathcap Infinity Orb Void Staff Liandry’s Torment Electrocute Keystone combined with Brutal, Adaptive Carapace, and Sweet Tooth runes.

This build offers a large amount of Ability Power, Ability Haste, and Magic Penetration to help Lux burst and poke enemies down with ease, with a bit of Max Health for some survivability. The Ability Power ratios on all of her skills, combined with the short cooldowns from the Ability Haste will allow Lux to consistently dish out abilities to save her allies or herself without any issues. The bonus Max Health isn’t necessary, but it doesn’t hurt since it comes along with items that are the perfect fit for Lux regardless.
