Revenant is an assassin converted into a machine by the Mercenary Syndicate who now seeks revenge for what they turned him into. The newest legend has already made his mark by killing Forge, the previously assumed addition, in a trailer days before Season 4 launched. Matching his lore, Revenant is all about moving around to get the drop on the enemies and eliminate them before they realize what is happening. To aid him in this role, Revenant’s skillset enables him to quickly close the gap and go in for the kill.

Revenant’s Abilities

Tactical Ability: Silence has Revenant throw a device which deals damage and disables the tactical and ultimate abilities of enemies caught inside for 10 seconds. Being hit by the device or walking into the smoke cloud will trigger the damage and silence effect, making it an effective zoning tool for its duration. Silence only takes one hand to throw, meaning Revenant can reload, heal, or even throw a grenade to maximize results. Passive Ability: Stalker allows Revenant to both crouch walk faster and climb higher walls than other Legends. Revenant will crouch walk as fast as his normal walking speed and also climb shorter walls twenty-five percent faster than other legends because of this passive. Since crouch walking characters make no noise, this allows him to sneak around and flank the enemy from a surprising angle when combined with wall climbing. Ultimate Ability: Death Totem drops a totem at Revenant’s location that can be used by players to become a shadow, returning them to life at the totem with 1 HP if they are killed nearby. Since players will get a second chance if downed while tethered to the totem, Revenant can play as aggressively as possible for the duration of the shadow transformation. Passive Ability: Low Profile makes Revenant more difficult to hit, but increases incoming damage by five percent.

Playing as Revenant

Based off his abilities, Revenant wants to fight at medium to close range, especially to make use of his Death Totem ultimate. As such, weapons like shotguns or submachine guns are perfect to dispatch enemies after closing the gap in a surprise fashion. Silence is a great opener for every Apex Legends fight, preventing retaliation from key enemy skills, but only if used before those abilities are activated. In a worst case scenario or where Revenant might not make it out alive, Death Totem will ensure that he gets to try again, especially since there is no vertical tether range. Due to the nature of his kit, however, Revenant players shouldn’t charge through wide open fields or engage snipers who can normally pick him off, even with a Death Totem, from far away.

With the new gameplay elements in Season 4, veteran Apex Legends players should also be delighted by the return of Kings Canyon later this season. But for fans who aren’t particularly interested, there are still plenty of things to look forward to like the upcoming events and plans that Respawn Entertainment has in store.

Apex Legends is available now on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
